Choose the Right Hearing Aids for You

There are a number of different styles and types available

When you come to get your new hearing aids, a professional can help you figure out which ones are best suited for you. Gem State Hearing offers a wide variety of hearing aids. You can get custom-fitted hearing aids designed just for you, or choose the standard ones if you prefer.

  • Receiver in canal (RIC) - These modern devices are very discrete. The speaker is placed directly in the ear while the receiver is located directly behind the ear on the hairline.
  • Completely in canal (CIC) - CIC hearing aids are the smallest custom design yet. These amplification devices fit even deeper into the ear canal resulting in better amplification.
  • Behind the ear (BTE) - All of the electronics are held in a case that fits behind the ear. Tubing and an ear mold are created to route the sound to the ear canal. Typically BTE listening devices are able to provide more amplification than smaller devices due to the larger power capabilities of the battery.
  • In the ear (ITE) - ITE devices are fully customized to fit perfectly in your ear, offering a more discrete appearance. They can include a telecoil feature for talking on the phone.
  • In the canal (ITC) - Sits completely in your ear and partly in your ear canal. It fills about 1/3 of the ear. They can fit dual microphones, and performs better in noise than a CIC. This is for mild to mildly severe hearing loss.
